Siddhartha Gautam was the son of the king of Kapilvastu kingdom (present day Nepal). When he was a little boy, some seers predicted that he will become either a great king or a spiritual leader. His father kept his son in luxuries and away from all sufferings. But once on a trip through the city, Siddhartha observed an old man, a diseased person, and a dead man. After seeing all this, prince Siddhartha gave up his princely status and embarked on a spiritual journey of self-discovery. Finally he found enlightenment under Bodhi tree in Bodh Gaya and became the Buddha - the enlightened one.
