Balarama is the elder brother of Krishna and is considered the incarnation of Shesha Naag, the divine serpent on whom Lord Vishnu reclines.
- He was born to Vasudeva and Rohini but was mystically transferred from Devaki’s womb to Rohini’s by divine intervention to protect him from Kansa, Krishna’s tyrannical uncle.
- Balarama is depicted as a mighty warrior, known for his immense strength, and carries a plow (hala) and a mace (gada), symbolizing agriculture and power.
- He played a significant role in Krishna’s childhood adventures, helping him defeat demons and protect Vrindavan.
- In the Mahabharata, Balarama chose to remain neutral in the Kurukshetra war but was the guru of both Duryodhana and Bhima in the art of mace fighting.
