  • Unfamiliarity with Ganesha – Ganesha's identity was unknown to Shiva, and when he stood guard at Parvati's palace, Shiva, unaware of his son, beheaded him.
  • Restoration by Shiva – Upon realizing his mistake, Shiva replaced Ganesha's head with that of an elephant, restoring him to life.
  • Remover of Obstacles – Ganesha is widely worshipped as the Vighna Vinashak (remover of obstacles), and it is considered auspicious to pray to him before starting any new endeavor.
  • Iconography – Ganesha is often depicted sitting with his consort Riddhi on a divine blooming lotus, symbolizing prosperity, wisdom, and harmony.
