Ram is the seventh incarnation of Vishnu (the Preserver) and incarnated in the Treta Yuga, one of the four epochs in the Hindu cycle of ages.
- He was born to King Dashratha and Queen Kaushalya in the kingdom of Ayodhya.
- Ram is the central character in the Hindu epic Ramayana, where he is exiled for fourteen years to the forest. During this time, his wife, Sita, is abducted by the demon king Ravana.
- With the help of his brother Lakshman and the Vanaras (monkeys), Ram defeats Ravana, rescuing Sita and restoring dharma (righteousness).
- Ram is depicted as standing majestically, holding his bow, symbolizing his strength and valor. He is revered as Maryada Purushottam, the ideal man, embodying the perfect conduct and supreme virtue.
